Ministry of Encouragement and love
A half hour service of singing and reading from the word of God to Seniors
|
Who: Anyone who wishes to give the ministry of encouragement and love to those who cannot make a Sunday service
When: Each month: 1/2 hour service
Where: Aberdeen Hospital and Carlton House |
Each month Oaklands provides a half hour service for the residents of the Aberdeen Hospital and Carlton House. This is a ministry of encouragement and love for people who have little opportunity to get out to regular services.
About half a dozen people, mostly seniors have regularly supported this ministry. The services consist of singing well known hymns reading from the word of God and the presentation of a very short devotional. The response to these ministries is always very positive and the residents and staff appreciate the fact that we care enough to provide this service.
Our goal for these ministries is to encourage and stimulate younger people to get involved, use their gifts of music and see the opportunity to serve an often forgotten section of our community. These people always appreciate special music so we would like anyone with a singing or playing gift, regardless of age, to help us.
I would like to especially thank Barbara Munday who has, in recent times, faithfully supplied the music at both of these venues, and that dedicated group of seniors whose consistent presence is always a blessing. |
