The Church began as a Sunday School on the grass under the trees at 1250 Acton St., Victoria, BC Canada.

The original house, although altered, still stands on the property.

The Sunday School grew and larger accommodation was found above the shops where "All Victoria Vacuums" now stands. In those days, a butcher shop and bakery occupied the ground floor premises. With the growth of the  Sunday School and the need for more suitable accommodation, it was decided to start a new church fellowship in the area. A building was erected in 1914 at a cost of approximately $2,000.00. This same building is now owned by the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Cedar Hill Road.

Forty years later, the church then known as "Oaklands Gospel Hall" was in urgent need of larger premises. In 1956 the present site at the corner of Fernwood and Cedar Hill was purchased and a new church building was underway.

In April 1957 the doors were opened.

In 1992, some architectural changes were made to give us the current church building. Oaklands Chapel has roots in the Oaklands Community that go a long way down. Over the years our missionaries have gone to many countries learning new languages, to enable them to preach the goods news of God's love and to help with some of the needs of the people who live there.
